The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG and the C 63 AMG S have been officially unveiled from Stuttgart. The much awaited sports sedan will supposedly carry its bulk forward in true AMG tradition as it belts out 476 horsepower (14 horsepower more than the base AMG GT!) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque from the M178 4-liter biturbo V8 mill- the brawny, naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine from the erstwhile W2014 C 63 AMG has been ditched. the hotter C 63 AMG S churns out 510 horsepower (same figure as the AMG GT S) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, a tad more than the top-spec Mercedes-AMG GT S!
The C 63 gets the trademark AMG styling treatment which includes aggressive bumper work all around, new mesh riddled air intakes, flared wheel arches, new wheels and quad exhausts- not much visual difference from the AMG Styling Pack for the C-Class. The main visual difference between the C 63 AMG and C 63 AMG S lies in the wheel design. While the standard C 63 AMG gets 18-inch titanium grey AMG light-alloy rims, the lustier C 63 AMG S sports motorsport-inspired single-nut matte black alloy wheels fashioned with red brake calipers.
Apart from all that, there’s a standard multi-clutch AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed automatic transmission taming all that power. Forced induction ensures improved fuel economy figures as well- the C 63 AMG sips just 8.2 liters of fuel / 100 km (34.4 UK mpg; 28.6 US mpg) on the combined cycle and produces 192 grams of CO2 / kilometer, while the C 63 AMG S sips 8.4 liters of petrol / 100 km (33.6 UK mpg; 28 US mpg) and produces 195 g of CO2 per km.
