Suzuki Motorcycles International is recalling approximately 23,000 models of its GSX-R1000 and GSX-R750s to replace a manufacturing defect in the chain adjuster. The recall, applicable to certain 2011-2014 GSX-R750s and 2009-2014 GSX-R1000 motorcycles, will fix a minor problem which might cause the riders to miss a gear while upshifting, putting strain on the drivetrain and possibly damaging the left-side adjuster. If the problem isn’t fixed the chain could potentially slip off the bike, leaving the bike more vulnerable in the event of a crash.

To fix the problem, which is mostly prevalent among sports bikes sold in the UK and the US, Suzuki dealers will replace the left-side chain adjuster with an improved part for free.

Thanks to the miniscule proliferation of superbikes in India, especially the smaller GSX-R750, we don’t think this recall will affect Indian bikers for the most part. Still, if you do own a Suzuki GSX-R, do contact your local dealer to see if your treasured possession would have been affected by the recall, and get it fixed.
