A new Renault low-cost crossover has been spied for the first time, and will reportedly be positioned below the Duster. These images show a pretty bare-boned subcompact crossover running the Renault badge, and sporting a Sandero inspired minimalist and simple front fascia.
Likely to be slotted below the Captur in Europe, Renault’s city crossover rides on puny wheels wrapped around with thin tires, signifying it’s low-cost, utilitarian intents. A single windscreen wiper has to do here, and we hope those crude ORVMs are not put through production. The rear shows a smidgen of style, while the taillights look similar to those on the Captur.
It’s hard to predict whether this subcompact will make it to India sometime soon, but we think it’d go a world of good to the already reeling Renault India. Lada could get its own version in Russia in the future, and soon one will be sporting a Dacia badge for Europe, but probably at first the model will be commercialized under the diamond logo.
The new Renault subcompact crossover will be launched sometime next year and is most likely to be manufactured either in Tangier, Morocco or at Renault’s new factory in Oran, Algeria. We hope it’s also made around these parts sometime soon.
