Audi S4 India review (13)

Sources say that Audi India is about to discontinue a few slow-selling examples from its portfolio soon. Those include the S4, the A6 3.0 TDI Quattro, the Q5 2.0T and the Q7 4.2 V8 TDI.

Dwindling sales for these variants might have instigated Audi India to take such a call. The S4 is great car- a true sleeper giving the best of both the worlds, with its unassuming looks and rampant performance, but we doubt Audi ever saw a double digit monthly sales figure with the S4.

As far as the A6 3.0 TDI Quattro and the Q7 V8 TDI go, both are supremely competent enthusiasts’ choices, but slightly inappropriately priced because of their CBU origins. For example, the A6 3.0 TDI Quattro Navigation trim will set you back by almost 64 lakhs INR*, while the top-of-the line  A6 2.0 TDI Premium Plus will make more sense to the uninitiated at close to 50 lakh INR*. Similarly, the  Q7 4.2 V8 TDI will set you back by almost a crore on-road, while a capable enough 3.0 TDI, even with Technology Pack & Sunroof is the pragmatic choice at 78 lakhs INR*.

As for the Q5 2.0T petrol, it didn’t do too well either because the diesel Q5s stole it’s show, and petrol power doesn’t strike as the ideal choice for the Indian buyer in this segment.
