Bajaj Auto announced the launch of the Qute Quadricycle in the state of Maharashtra today. The launch of Qute comes in line with the acceptance of the ‘Quadricycle’ as a new category from the government of Maharashtra. It is built to provide a quick alternative to public transport. The Qute Quadricycle will be available in the following 6 colours: Eco Green, Neptune Blue, Golden Yellow, Arctic White, Bright Red and Jet Black, while the prices for the Qute start from Rs 2,78,492 (CNG, Commercial use) and Rs 2,48,061 (Petrol, Personal use).

Qute Launched

A Quadricycle is a 4-wheeled vehicle which is designed in response to the evolving requirements of low running costs, eco-friendly and safe alternative to intracity commute by optimizing size, weight, speed. Bajaj Qute will prove to be the ideal solution for new age mobility challenges like congestion and pollution, which arises from rapid urbanization. It’s also one of the most eco-friendly petrol/CNG vehicles, with at least 40% lower carbon emissions than any car. The Qute has 4 main differences, which set it apart from any 3-wheeler / Rickshaw.

  1. It is highly fuel efficient.
  2. It comes with a low cost of maintenance.
  3. It is easy to drive.
  4. It provides all weather protection.

The Qute is launched in both CNG and Petrol variants, the Qute is powered by a lightweight 216 cc, 4-valve, water-cooled DTSi engine with closed loop fuel injection system which delivers higher fuel efficiency figures of 43 km/kg (CNG) and 35 kmpl (Petrol). The petrol variant’s engine will be producing 13 HP at 5500 rpm and 18.9 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm, mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox. The CNG variant’s engine will be producing 10.83 HP at 5500 rpm and 16.1 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm, mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox. The petrol variant gets an 8-litre fuel tank, while the CNG variant gets a 35-litre CNG cylinder. Both the variants have a top speed of 70 km/h.

Qute19

As the Qute is low on maintenance cost, it is the most suitable option for the daily commute. The dash-mounted sequential gear shifter enhances the ease of driving, while the small turning radius of 3.5m makes it easier to manoeuvre in city traffic. The small size of this quadricycle will be quite handy for parking in tight spaces. Qute also provides weather protection from the sun and rain as it is fully covered and has windows. The 12-inch alloy wheels provide better road grip, while the high strength monocoque body makes the vehicle safer. Despite being tiny, the Qute has enough storage space and also has intakes in the bumper which channel the air into the cabin.

Mr Navneet Sahni – General Manager, Intracity Business Unit, Bajaj Auto Ltd said, “We are delighted with the launch of Qute in Maharashtra. Apart from being an effective first and last mile transportation solution, it will also provide employment to many in the state. Over the years, the Bajaj Intracity Vehicles have become a part of the social fabric of India and with Qute, we are now raising the bar and ushering in a new eco-friendly solution, which will hit a sweet spot in intra-city mobility between three-wheelers and cars. In Maharashtra, Bajaj through its Petrol and Alternate Fuel (CNG/LPG) 3-wheelers has been a leader in the last mile passenger segment and we intend to raise the bar with the launch of Qute in Maharashtra. Today there is an Urban Mobility Crisis because cars which are designed for intercity travel are being used for intracity travel causing congestion and vehicular pollution. The requirement for intracity travel is a 4 wheeled vehicle which has significantly higher mileage, has a low maintenance cost, is easy to drive and park, provides all-weather protection to its occupants, is safe & spacious and low on CO2 emissions. Qute, the first Quadricycle of India is the answer for intracity travel.”

Bajaj Qute – Five Things Which Make It Unique

$

0

The Bajaj Qute is currently being launched in a phased manner across India. Just yesterday, it was launched in Maharashtra at INR 2,78,492 (CNG, Commercial use) and INR 2,48,061 (Petrol, Personal use). Built to present itself as an efficient solution for urban transportation, it has a small footprint, is efficient, and although it is a no-frills vehicle, there are a few things about it which make it pretty unique.

Segment Starter

Qute22

The Bajaj Qute is the first vehicle in the very segment that it created in India. While it was launched internationally a long time ago, the cute little Qute had to fight a long battle for the authorities to create a new segment of vehicles altogether, called ‘Quadricycle’.

It is not a Car

Qute1

For creating its very own category, the Bajaj Qute makes it very clear that it isn’t a car. It isn’t anything else, but a Quadricycle. Why does it do that? Because had it been a car, there are different rules, regulations, and norms it had to comply and that would’ve simply been impossible for something with such a tiny footprint. So a motorcycle with four wheels then? No! It is a Quadricycle!

It Is Powered By A Motorcycle’s Engine

Qute30

Powering the Qute is a 216cc, single-cylinder, DTSi engine which cranks out 13.1 PS @ 5,500 rpm and 18.9 Nm at 4,000 rpm. There’s a CNG version available too, where the same engine churns out 11 PS and 16.1 Nm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and the top whack this Qute little thing can hit is 70 km/h. Where the petrol-powered variant gets an 8-litre fuel tank, the CNG variant gets a 35-litre cylinder. Fuel efficient, the Qute is rated for 43 km/kg (CNG) and 35 km/l (Petrol). The Qute is eco-friendly and lets out at least 40% lower carbon emissions than any car.

Sequential Gearbox

Bajaj Qute Gear shift

If you’re an enthusiast, you know what it is. For the uninitiated, a sequential gearbox is a straightforward manual gearbox, where you don’t need to row the stick between gates. You simply push or pull the lever down to upshift and downshift, which makes the process quicker and even more enjoyable.

Cooling Vents Of A Different Kind

Qute6

For a hot country like India, if there is a vehicle with doors and windows and a roof, it cannot not have an air conditioner. But because the Qute is so tiny in proportions, fitting an air conditioning system in it was impossible. So instead, Bajaj carved out vents in the front bumper and devised a way for that air to channel through vents which open up on the A-pillar. Innovative it might be, but it won’t work when the vehicle is at a standstill and when the weather is too hot, the hot air won’t do the occupants any good. I do have a Bajaj cooler at home and it works really well. Maybe using a similar method to filter the air, water to cool it down, and a fan to make it work at a standstill can be tried whenever they plan an upgrade.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Gets An Extra Life Before Replacement

India’s sweetheart when it comes to buying that “First Car”, the Maruti Suzuki Alto has not for nothing been the best selling vehicle over the years. However, safety regulations which make it mandatory for vehicles to come fitted with a certain set of equipment as standard were making it difficult for this entry-level hatchback to keep marching forward. In addition, stricter norms which will require cars to be safe for pedestrians and pass through rigorous crash testing will be applicable for all new cars in India, starting October 2019. For now, though, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 can carry on, since the carmaker has equipped it with all that is required to keep it going.

Maruti-Suzuki-Alto-K10-Grey

The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 now comes fitted with safety features like ABS (antilock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake distribution), a speed alert system, rear parking sensors, driver and passenger seatbelt reminder as standard across all variants. The addition of these features is in line with the new safety norms which have come into effect, starting April 1st, 2019. Starting July 1st 2019, vehicles will have to be fitted with a driver-side airbag as standard, in addition to the speed alert system, rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminder for front passengers, which the Alto K10 has already been updated with. As a result of these additions, the price will naturally go up and it has. It is now priced between INR 3.66-4.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

However, this is a temporary arrangement as an all-new Alto is about to replace the ageing model which is on sale currently. The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Alto will meet the regulations which will be in effect for all cars, starting October 1st, 2019. These regulations will make it mandatory for cars to go through a crash test for full-frontal impact, offset-frontal impact and side impact. This was already applicable for all new cars that were launched after October 1, 2017. Older models had a grace period until October 2019 to meet these regulations. Once the safety regulations are met, all the vehicles will then have to meet the new BS VI norms which will come into effect next year.

Customised Royal Enfield Classic 350 Carries A Good Looking Licence Plate

We probably aren’t the only ones out there to think that manufacturers and designers spend years to come out with some striking designs, only for the saree guard and the front licence plate to then pour cold water on all that hard work. But based on a Royal Enfield Classic 350, this customised version called the Concord has found a good looking solution. Built by Eimor Customs, the team says they haven’t done anything new for this bike, but carried forward the standard approach in a different way.

Eimor Customs Concor side profile left

Coming to the front end of this Bobber-styled RE, we like how the offset headlight leaves space for a metal plate which has been affixed with a vertical licence plate that keeps things neat rather than making it an eyesore. The change is complemented by ribbed bobber tyres and a short fender. The custom fuel tank looks right at home and so does the paint job.

But what also stands out for this build is a Smiths made speedometer which is as old-school as it gets and is calibrated to display speed in miles per hour. There’s an ammeter for company and the custom handlebar should make it easy for the rider to manoeuvre this thing in spite of the raised, peanut-shaped fuel tank.

Concord by Eimor Customs

At the back, the single, spring-loaded saddle sits right above the twin rear shocks which carry out suspension duties for a rear tyre which is just as vintage as the front rubber. We like the side-mounted rear licence plate and the overall execution of the entire mod job. They call it the Concord.

Eimor Customs Concor rear section

There has been a heavy crackdown on customised vehicles lately and in our honest opinion, it is the killing of an expression and art form. An automobile is a matter of passion for many and personalisation is just an extension of that feeling. While we agree that certain things like seriously loud exhaust systems or modifications which can potentially harm other road users or the environment must be looked at, there needs to be some regulation which people should be asked to adhere to. A complete ban isn’t the solution at all. It will only kill what is a culture, a way of living, something which inspires creativity.

2019 Bajaj Dominar 400’s TVC Reveals Two New Colours

$

0

Until now, the recently launched Bajaj Dominar 400 was available in two colour options – Matte Black and Auroral Green. However, a new television commercial has revealed that two new colour options will most probably be on offer as well. What is without a doubt the most value-for-money performance motorcycle out there, the Bajaj Dominar’s new TVC shows the bike inside a wind tunnel, finished in a shade of Glossy Red, where the fuel tank is partly covered in black.

The other colour option is completely new and appears to be Silver, although we can’t really figure if it will be in Matte finish or glossy. Before it was launched, the 2019 Bajaj Dominar was also spied in White, which for some reason hasn’t been introduced, yet.

2019 Bajaj Dominar Glossy Red

The 2019 Bajaj Dominar carries some meaningful upgrades which now make it even better in comparison to the first-gen motorcycle. The bike retains the same motor, however, the liquid-cooled 373.3cc DOHC engine now delivers 40 PS, an increase of 5 PS, while torque at 35 Nm is identical to the engine’s previous state of tune. The upgraded bike also features 43 mm upside down (USD) forks, bungee straps tucked under the seat to help secure gear during long-distance touring, a secondary display which shows time, gear position, trip information, and spacecraft inspired tank pad decals. The bike now also features a twin-barrel exhaust which makes the motor sound better than before.

2019 Bajaj Dominar Silver

Besides all that, the 2019 Dominar has also shunned its old “Go Hyperriding” tagline, for something more apt. It now encourages the rider to spend more time in the saddle and see the World. The new tagline read, “Don’t Hold Back.” In other news, the bike maker has partnered with Triumph to develop a new mid-capacity motorcycle, which should be out sometime next year. To be sold as a Bajaj in the Indian market and as a Triumph elsewhere, it could well be a retro-styled motorcycle or a Street Triple like thing. It could be anybody’s guess, for now, however, we’d be pleasantly surprised if the new motorcycle comes out as a baby Tiger. Given the increasing popularity of adventure motorcycles, they are fast becoming like SUVs where everybody loves them for the practicality they bring along.

Honda CB300R Sold Out For 2019 In India

Honda’s re-entry into the entry-level premium segment happened as a surprise. After all, the Honda CB300R wasn’t a motorcycle which was developed and then manufactured locally. It was shipped from Thailand in kit form and then assembled in India. Priced at INR 2.41 lakh, 500 units of the CB300R were earmarked for India, for 2019. Since its launch in January, the bike garnered 400 bookings within February itself and the rest of the lot is now taken too.

Honda CB300R India (17)

Going by reports, there are more who are enamoured by this Honda which flaunts the bike maker’s Neo Sports Cafe styling. We are still waiting to know if Honda will import more kits to meet this demand or whether the additional bookings will be catered to next year. However, the former possibility appears more plausible.

Honda CB300R India front three quarters (2)

Tipping the scales at 143 kilos (wet), the Honda CB300R is powered by a 286cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine which cranks out 30.9 bhp @ 8,500rpm, with peak torque of 27.5Nm, delivered @ 7,500rpm. For the weight and the power that the motor delivers, the CB300R might not excite on paper with those numbers, but in real life, it should be a fun machine to ride. Developed by Yuzuru Ishikawa, who is also responsible for giving us things like the Honda Blackbird and one of Honda’s MotoGP machine, the CB300R is the only motorcycle in its class to come fitted with an IMU-linked, dual-channel ABS system.

Honda CB300R India (11)

The Honda CB300R’s engine runs a compression ratio of 10.7:1, 38mm throttle, and a straight-shot intake path. The motor promises to deliver crisp throttle response across the rev range and to keep maintenance costs low, it has been designed with the minimum number of moving parts. Details like the low-friction piston rings, high-density core radiator and iridium spark plug help increase fuel efficiency. Fitted with a 10-litre fuel tank and rated for fuel economy of 30.2km/l, the CB300R can cover over 300 km on a tankful.

In terms of dynamics, the Honda CB 300R is based on an all-new steel tubular frame, gets 41mm upside-down front forks and the headlight, taillight (thinnest among all Honda bikes) and indicators are all LED. The rear monoshock is adjustable for 5-steps of preload and is paired with a pressed-steel swinging arm. The wave-style 296 mm front disc brake is radially mounted and is bitten into by 4-piston caliper. At the rear, the bike gets a 220 mm unit. A blue-backlit LCD display takes care of instrumentation and the handlebar next to it can turn the bike around within a radius of 2.3 metres.

Honda City Modded Into a Lamborghini Centenario

Who wouldn’t want to own a Lambo? Well, as good as it sounds, reality often disappoints. But if you want to convert your basic sedan to a Lamborghini, then there are a few modification companies like V Mod, who might help. In this case, it is a 2006 Honda City ZX. In India, you may find many people modifying their Hondas to look more sporty, but here we see a customer, who wished to convert his Honda City ZX to a complete luxury supercar, the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster.

V Mod have worked on this project for a long time, and it looks like they have finally achieved the perfect look. The special features on the newly converted City include an electrical folding roof, height adjustable bumpers and side skirts, along with scissor doors and Lamborghini specific alloy wheels. Even though the design quality of the headlamps and taillamps could have been much better, the overall car looks great. If the wheels and wheel arches would have been a bit bigger, then this project would have been an exact replica. The customization uses a Fiery Red shade with a dash of black, that could get you the attention a standard Lamborghini would get.

The Lamborghini Centenario Roadster is a performance-driven convertible which gets a carbon-fibre monocoque frame along with carbon-fibre bodywork. The Roadster gets the same highly responsive 6.5-litre, V12 engine from the Centenario which delivers around 770 HP at 8600 rpm and 690 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. This helps the roadster reach 100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds, and provides a top speed of 350 kmph. The Centenario Roadster is also equipped with features like rear-wheel steering and an electronically operated spoiler. However, the 2006 Honda City ZX on which this modification has been carried out is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine which produces 100 HP at 5800 rpm and 133 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. Unlike the original Centenario Roadster, the Honda City only gets front wheel drive and a 5-speed gearbox. This entire transformation from a Honda City to Centenario Roadster was worth Rs 7.5 lakhs.

This 240 kmph Civic Can Surprise With its Power Packed Performance Under Those Plain Looks

With futuristic styling and space-age interiors, the previous generation Civic was a masterpiece. It had a 1.8-litre motor that pumped about 130 HP, which was more than enough to make it the dream car of every young racer in the country. Back in the day, Civic was one of the widely sold premium sedans in the Indian market but, after a few years it lost its touch, and Honda didn’t seem interested in launching the newer version until now. Even though the newer version of the Civic might be an improved one, it’s not a match for the old one. So, this grey Civic from West Bengal is here to continue the legacy of the previous generation.

civic modification front low

This modified Honda Civic is capable of hitting the 240 km/h mark and can sprint from 0 – 100 kmph under 8 seconds! The modified Civic retains the same 1.8-litre motor but gets a completely remapped ECU, which now helps it produce around 150 HP at a higher rev range of 8000 rpm. To enhance this modification, the car is also equipped with an aftermarket Air Intake and a bigger throttle body. To match the upgraded engine’s performance the car gets a new HKS outer exhaust, along with a high flow catalytic converter. This exhaust will simultaneously improve the engine’s performance and enhance the meaty roar of the engine.

The standard Civic alloy wheels are retained and they now get a wider set of Yokohama 205/55 R15 rubber tyres, to provide an immense amount of control at higher speeds and cornering. The stopping power is credited to the Brembo disc brakes and rotors, which can bring this car to a screeching halt. The exterior paint is grey, with a tinge of black on the side mirrors. Even though the overall exterior of the car is kept stock, it gets a racing stripe on the hood to give it a sleeper cell look. The interior details of this modification are not yet available, while the price is still a mystery. But, this is one of the most subtle, yet power-packed modification ever seen on a Honda Civic.

Building a unique custom bike usually means that you might have to spend a whole lot of money. However, that is not completely true as you can create something special on a tight budget as well. So, to carry out a budget modification, you may need to start with a bike that is super affordable to purchase in the first place. The bike may not necessarily be equipped with a huge engine, something basic like the Bajaj Pulsar 150 can do the job as well. This is exactly what Susmit Tirlotkar from Shivshahi Custom has done with an old rustic Pulsar 150.

As he was looking forward to working on his next custom bike, Susmit saw a Bajaj Pulsar 150, which was in a pretty bad condition and was completely covered by dust. The bike was not in use for over a year and was sitting in the shed rusting its nuts and bolts. Being a dedicated and devoted bike lover, Susmit couldn’t see the bike rotting away in a closed garage, that is when he decided to have a talk with the owner. After having a few conversations with the owner about the bike and the type of design, he would like to have, they both agreed upon making it a scrambler.

Mechanically, the bike remains unchanged and the engine produces the same figures as the standard Pulsar 150. Most of the upgrades are purely cosmetic and include a large number of changes. The standard rear shock absorbers are replaced by a monoshock, while the tyres are now off-road ready. The headlamp and tail lamp now get completely different set-ups, the headlamp gets a thunderbird styled circular LED, while the tail lamp gets a small round brake-light. All the turn indicators are now replaced with LEDs. It also gets a new exhaust which enhances the sound and the look of this Scrambler. The bike also gets a new custom tank with a gloss black paint scheme, with BMW’s traditional racing stripes.

One of the most challenging parts of customizing the old Pulsar was the condition of the bike. The modifier had to start by cranking the engine and restoring it. But, since he had the permission of the owner, he could modify the bike the way he wanted. As Susmit had a clear vision of how he wanted to execute the design of this bike, he had a fun time converting this Pulsar 150 into a magnificent Scrambler. Susmit Tirlotkar from Shivshahi custom has said: “My mission in life is not merely to Survive, but to Thrive and to follow My PASSION with some compassion and style.”

Winning a lottery isn’t as simple as a gambling game. Its a game about luck. A Lucky Draw enables you to jump straight into the upper class. If you are lucky, a simple 1 dollar lottery ticket can take you to the world of luxury. There are some people who are born extremely lucky and one of them is Balvir Singh, an Indian worker in Dubai, who seems to be carrying his luck in his palms, as he won a McLaren 570S Spider in a contest in Dubai.

The Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC) had invited all their customers who had an expired ID to renew the registration of their phone numbers before the 31st of January to avoid losing their phone connection. Balvir also went to re-register his mobile number as stated by the company. All the customers who had renewed their ID registrations before the 31st of January were allowed to enter their names in the lucky draw contest. Surprisingly, when the company informed Balvir about the prize he won, he thought it was a prank call or a spam message. But later on, when the news was confirmed, Balvir was really happy that his luck turned out to be so good. Balvir Singh hails from a small town in Punjab and works as a carpenter in UAE (United Arab Emirates) since the past 10 years.

The McLaren 570S Spider is one of the most affordable McLarens available, yet it will cost a fortune to purchase one. Prices for the 570S start from about 200,000 dollars, which is roughly around Rs 1.4 crores. If McLaren would ever launch this car in India, then the price would nearly double. McLaren is currently Britain’s number one supercar manufacturer and has been responsible for us spending money on drool-worthy wallpapers. In terms of engine and performance, the 570S Spider is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which produces 570 HP and 600 Nm of torque. This power-packed engine can propel the car to a top speed of about 328 kmph and it can go from 0 – 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

Shortly after receiving the McLaren 570S Spider, Balvir sold the car and decided to invest the money in business or use it as savings. Even though he didn’t keep the car, he made a smart move by selling it and investing it for a better future. Owning an expensive supercar would definitely be fun, but maintaining it would be really tough too.

Unlike cars, bikes offer a more involved experience when you travel to explore the outdoors. The wind hitting your body, the engine buzzing between your legs, and the feeling of being one with the elements are just some of the experiences that you miss on when travelling in your 4-wheeled cage. Touring motorcycles too, have been designed to make these long journeys very relaxing and have enough storage space for your luggage. However, when you are on a bike, you have to rely on a hotel or some other accommodation arrangement to get some rest and then carry on. In the case of cars, if you choose the correct kind, you can even manage to spend the night in it, letting you explore remote locations which have no staying arrangements nearby. However, this unique contraption could let you do the same on your two wheels, have a look.

Quite literally a bed on two wheels, this modifications requires one to extend their swingarm by quite a margin to accommodate the bed in the back. With the bike extended, there also is some additional storage space made available to carry your essentials on a long trip. The sleeping pod also has some nets to store more stuff like your riding gear, clothes and some more. Long enough to accommodate a person, one only has to pop the bike on its centre stand and curl in for a comfortable nap and carry on, completely refreshed and ready for more riding.

One would think that the extra weight of this whole accessory would affect the way the bike handles but as seen in the video, the pod is light enough to be pushed and pulled while parking. Moreover, the bike can also handle slushy roads quite like your regular motorcycle. The video also showcases the building process of this contraption which took more than a year to develop and perfect. Quite an interesting innovation, this looks like the ideal touring motorcycle for those who love to venture out to places where not many people would take their 2-wheeled partners. Tata Motors has added one of the most sought after multimedia connectivity apps, Apple CarPlay, to both the Tiago and Tigor’s top-end variants. The Tiago and Tigor were only equipped with Android Auto, which could only help in pairing android phones seamlessly. Now, the Tiago and Tigor will also join the likes of the Nexon, with this updated feature, which even allows iPhones to connect seamlessly. However, the Nexon had both, the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay since last year.

The new Apple CarPlay feature in the Tata Tiago and Tigor means that Tata’s infotainment system is now as competitive as the new Maruti SmartPlay as well as Hyundai’s infotainment system in terms of basic functionality and features.
